Each of these contributes a certain weight to the student's grade in the course, which is assigned at the end of the course. The contribution of each component is specific to the course and is decided only by the instructor of the course.

Each grade carries a numerical weight.

A = 10, B = 8 , C = 6, D = 4, F = 0, I = Incomplete

where A, B, C, D denote Excellent, Good, Average and Poor respectively. F denotes a fail grade. An I grade is given in exceptional circumstances when the student, for some genuine reason, is unable to take the final exam or is otherwise unable to fulfill the course requirements. The only genuine reasons accepted are medical sickness and family emergency.
